WEST TRUCKEE · SINCE 1965
Parking lot striping in West Truckee.
West Truckee runs along the Donner Pass Road corridor between downtown and the lake, five minutes from the yard. Robert E. Sutton Co. works out of Truckee, licensed in California and Nevada, and parking lot striping is one of the three things we do. Call (530) 587-4161.
What the work involves
Layout, stalls, arrows, and legends, painted to hold up against plow blades and traction sand. Striping over fresh sealcoat is also the cheapest moment there will ever be to fix a layout that was not working.
Why it matters at this elevation
Snow country is hard on markings in a way that surprises owners who moved up from the valley. Between blade contact, sand abrasion, and the months lines spend buried, mountain striping does not last as long. Planning for that cycle is cheaper than being surprised by it.
At roughly 5,900 feet, this pavement runs through the full mountain freeze-thaw cycle every winter. It is still mountain pavement. Nights drop below freezing well into spring and start again early in fall, so anything that lets water in during those stretches gets punished the same way it does up top.
How the job runs
Layout comes before paint. We reference the existing configuration before it disappears, confirm stall dimensions and aisle widths, and place accessible spaces where they belong rather than where they happened to be. Then lines go down on clean dry pavement.
West Truckee pavement specifically
A mix of commercial frontage on the corridor and residential streets behind it. Being this close to the yard means small jobs can be grouped efficiently, which is worth knowing if the driveway only needs a crack pass rather than a full treatment.
Driveways here are classic Truckee: mid-century asphalt that’s survived decades because somebody maintained it. We can usually get you a same-week estimate through most of the season.
Layout gets confirmed before any paint goes down. Repainting a configuration that never worked is a common way to waste a striping budget.
West Truckee sits at roughly 5,850 feet, and the pavement around it behaves accordingly. More on the area on our West Truckee service area page. We work the same corridor across the Truckee area, and the pavement guides go deeper on the physics if you want it.
Questions
Will parking lot striping fix pavement that is already breaking up?
No, and we will say so plainly. Surface work protects sound pavement. If an area has failed down into the base it needs repair or replacement, which is paving work, and we do not pave. We will tell you which areas are which.
Are you licensed for work in West Truckee?
Yes. We hold California license 510637 and Nevada license 29573, classification A-8, which covers both sides of the state line around the north end of the lake.
What if the weather turns on my scheduled day?
We reschedule. Sealer needs dry pavement and dry hours behind it, and mountain thunderstorms are a fact of July and August. A delayed job beats a rushed one every time, and we will call you rather than surprise you.
